Last weekend was a rainy, dreary and sleepy weekend. And with lots of nap time for the kids, comes lots of opportunity to be productive for mom and dad. Though I haven’t made much progress on Oaken’s room makeover yet, the hubs and I did get a number of other things done last weekend. So, forget being “weekend warriors”, we have a much shorter time frame to work with; we’ll call ourselves the Nap Time Warriors. :)

Here is the project that I have been dying to share since we finished it last Sunday evening. (Well, it’s mostly done…)

Yup, that’s what the bathroom looked like BEFORE we got our hands on it.

A few months ago, my husband went in with the idea of simply swapping out a few broken tiles. Well, what can go wrong, did, and we found a totally rotten sub-floor beneath those tiles. Out went everything and we scrapped the flooring completely.

In went the new tile and new toilet (always a good thing) and we’ve been living with this super dark blue color on the walls since.

The bathroom shelf has needed a little love too, so we removed a useless divider from the front, puttied the holes and gave the whole bathroom (ceiling and wainscoting included) a fresh paint job.

Here is just a sneak peak of what it looks like now!

Ahhhhh… It feels so refreshing. And so clean!

You never realize just how dirty a bathroom exhaust fan is until you take it down and clean it. I always thought it was a tan-ish kind of color, but it turns out that it is really white. Who knew? Bleh.

There are a couple of small projects for the bathroom that have to be finished yet to pull it all together, so you’ll have to stay tuned for the true more finished product!!

Bathroom photography tip #1, remove plunger from room before snapping pictures. I don’t think we have ever used it, so why is it even in here?

But perhaps you can throw in your two cents on our little accent color dilemma. The hubs thinks that we’re seriously lacking some color now. What accent colors would you use to accessorize? Should we go a little bold and throw in some navy? Tell us what you think!!

>>Just in case you were wondering, the paint color used was Behr Twilight Grey.
